You have written a book or have a great book idea. Now what? How do you know if it is good enough? How can you be sure that your manuscript won’t end up in the slush pile of a major publisher? How do you wade through the publishing red tape to see your hard work come out on bookstore shelves?
Let
Abbacy help you out. With a full range of writing and editing experience, we can lead you through the maze and help you see your prize novel, nonfiction book, or biography on those bookstore shelves. We provide five levels of writing and editing to make your manuscript crisp and letter perfect. They include:
Ž
Ghost
Writing—this is the most extensive writing level, in which we completely write the manuscript from scratch, using your ideas and extensive interviews. We utilize your draft manuscript, written notes, and/or research to gather the pertinent information.
Once the book is published, it lists you as the author "with" our writer as co-author (for example “My Biography,” By John Smith, with V.L. McCann).
Ž
Rewrites—this level of writing is required when a manuscript you wrote needs extensive work on grammar, sentence structure, rewording, content, and even format.
Ž
Content Editing—this level of editing is required when a manuscript needs a fair amount of help with wording, flow, and transitions from section to section, chapter to chapter, or scene to scene.
Ž
Copy Editing—this level of editing is required after the first draft has been
completed. The editor will check for grammar and overall consistency in tense, voice, captions,
figures, footnotes, index references, and bibliography.
Ž
Proofreading—this is the last editing step prior to submission to a publisher, editor, or agent.
We also write those time-consuming but necessary products that publishers, editors, and agents require before they will even consider looking at your manuscript, such as:
Ž
Query
letter—this is similar to a cover letter written to an agent or editor,
the purpose of which is to catch their interest and compel them to read
your manuscript.
Ž
Synopsis—a
short two- or three-page description of the manuscript; an “Executive
Summary” of sorts.
Ž
Book
Proposal—This is more extensive than a synopsis and normally includes
a competitive survey, market analysis, author's bio, and complete outline.
A full proposal can run anywhere from
5 to 50 pages in length, depending upon the length of the manuscript.
Ž
Outline—This
is an extensive chapter by chapter description of the book.
Ž
Manuscript
Resume—used exclusively for the Maui Writer’s Conference.
This is a succinct, two page Resume that covers a brief synopsis,
excerpt, marketing ideas, and author’s bio.
Ž Competitive Survey—this is a written comparison of your manuscript against other published products which are similar in nature to yours.
Don’t wait to get your book published.
